November 08, 2010 /Bloggin and Social Media PR News/ -- On Thursday, Facebook announced its new "Green on Facebook" page, which is dedicated to spreading environmental awareness. The company also announced its collaboration with the Digital Energy Solution Campaign (DESC), a nonprofit coalition of technology companies devoted to solving environmental problems.
This is Facebook's first corporate green initiative, and it's growing fast, with already more than 37,000 fans online as of today. An announcement from the DESC states that Facebook provides the ideal forum for promoting environmentally friendly business practices and for connecting millions of environmentally conscious consumers.
The Green on Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/green) states that through the company's initiatives of recycling and composting, Facebook has already reduced its carbon dioxide emission by 294 tons.
