Wrongly Imprisoned for 35 Years Until DNA Tests Proved His Innocence, James Bain to Speak at MLK Luncheon in Philadelphia January 18, 2010

MyPhillyLawyer.com (Law Offices of Silvers, Langsam & Weitzman) sponsors James Bain's upcoming visit to Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA, PA, January 10, 2010 /Bloggin and Social Media PR News/ -- James Bain, who was freed from a Florida prison last month after 35 years spent in prison for crimes he did not commit, will receive the 2010 Drum Major Award for Criminal Justice from the Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Association for Non-Violence in ceremonies at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 18, 2010.

Mr. Bain, whose visit is being sponsored by MyPhillyLawyer in Philadelphia, was released from prison in Florida last month after DNA testing conducted on behalf of non-profit group, The Innocence Project, revealed what Bain insisted since his arrest back in 1974 - that the wrong man had been convicted and incarcerated in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a nine-year-old boy. (See MyPhillyLawyer.com blog entry from Dec. 18, 2009: http://blog.myphillylawyer.com/2009/12/18/free-at-last-after-35-years ... ames-bain/) The event will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, 17th and Race streets, Philadelphia. Mr. Bain will also participate in a National Bell Ringing ceremony at The Liberty Bell at noon before the luncheon.

Mr. Bain is the 248th person who has been exonerated of crimes due to DNA testing in our nation, according to the group.

Mr. Bain will also talk about his case and experiences on MyPhillyLawyer's Court Radio show at 7 a.m. EDT Sunday, Jan. 17 on WRNB-FM 107.9.
